Indonesia

There is a lot to explore by yacht charter in this amazing archipelago

Sailing in Indonesia

With over 18,000 islands, a fantastically diverse landscape and some of the world’s most incredible wildlife, you can pack in a lot when sailing in Indonesia. Prepare to be spoiled for choice!

There are many superlatives that can be used to describe Indonesia. The country extends across an area bigger than Europe, with landscapes from lush beaches to towering mountains. It’s home to orangutans, elephants, tigers, dragons (!!) and a plethora of peoples, cultures and cuisines.

With all this in mind, sailing in Indonesia with a yacht charter offers an endless scope for adventure. Most visitors to Indonesia head to Bali, with the Komodo National Park also an essential stop. So, why charter a yacht in Indonesia?

Off the tourist trail

Bali in particular attracts plenty of visitors, and if you’ve ever been to this fantastic island, it’s easy to see why. Perfect tropical beaches give way to a breathtaking interior, with rice paddies and jungle dominating the landscape.

Sailing in Bali means you can discover those hidden beaches, untouched islands and unique experiences that staying on land doesn’t quite deliver.

Fun on (and in) the water

Fans of snorkelling and scuba diving will find an endless supply of incredible dive sites. In fact, Indonesia is often recognised as one of the best places in the world for its incredible marine life. And you don’t need to put an aqualung on to discover this undersea magic, there are reefs and islands literally teeming with life.

With a yacht charter in Indonesia, you’ll be able to head to those coves and beaches that are rarely (if ever) visited by tourists. Besides sailing in Indonesia, another way to enjoy the sea is surfing. You'll find here, especially in Bali and Java, are a surfers paradise, with lots of breaks perfect for beginners.

Bali is one of the best places for a yacht charter in Indonesia, with plenty of affordable options. Discover your own quiet cove, find a hidden reef to explore, or relax on deck with a cool drink and the sea breeze on your face as you soak up the vibe.

Get the party started

On Sailo, we have a great selection of party boats in Bali, with most setting sail from Kuta or Denpasar. Choose from luxury motor yachts, many of which include snorkel or fishing equipment. Here be dragons!

Set sail to the island of Komodo and discover the home of the world’s largest lizard. The Komodo dragon doesn’t breathe fire, you’ll be pleased to hear, but they do have very sharp teeth and a venomous bite. One of the best adventures when sailing in Indonesia is chartering a private boat to explore the island and meet these beasts. Sailo offer private yacht charters and boat rentals in Labuan Bajo, on the nearby island of East Nusa Tenggara.

Java and Sumatra

Intrepid explorers will love sailing in Indonesia with a Sailo boat charter in Sumatra.
