Our experience renting from Sailo and Avi was not ideal. There was consistent miscommunication from both parties regarding costs, logistics, and total time on the boat. This was not a plug-and-play experience like I've had with previous charters, and it was incredibly stressful. I had to be the middleman between the marina and Avi's team, communicate with Sailo regarding refunds due to NYC regulations changing in 2024, and our trip was cut short. We left the marina 15 minutes late due to the dock taking a while to run my credit card (this is typically done by the boat company before departure), and the captain circled the dock from 8:45 pm - 9:00 pm because the boat was overbooked for the day. The next party was supposed to be on board at 9:30pm, and the staff had to quickly flip the boat for the next guests.

I recognize the regulations changed for NYC docks this past year, but we're at the end of July at this point...you'd think the process would be streamlined by now or at least mentioned in the boat post on Sailo.

Our trip exceeded our expectations. The captain and crew were professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area. They set up a fantastic itinerary for our group— exploring the coast by boat, avoiding the crowds (our request), and getting a fantastic Algarve experience swimming and paddling. Snacks and drinks were a perfect addition, and top recommendation for a seafood lunch after the trip. When we are back, we are booking again!
