Hope to see you soon!
Croatia was beautiful and it was great to be able to see it by the water! Unfortunately this specific boat trip was not what was expected or advertised. We didn’t realize that a boat from 1998 was an old boat and that fact became very evident throughout the trip so much so that the skipper and our group decided that the boat was not able to complete our trip and we had to end 1 day early.
To list a few items that were broken:
-the sail was unable to go up the full way because it would get stuck,
-the automatic anchor system kept failing in order to get the anchor in and out of the water
- the speaker system and tv were broken,—a window in a bedroom was broken preventing airflow in the 98 degree weather,
-the key motor did not work so the motor took approx. 10-15min to turn on every time by hand with the skipper needing to pour oil and water over the engine to get it started,
-the boat had trouble turning left preventing us from being able to dock at a marina with ease and also causing us to almost hit and at one point did hit another boat, and the skipper kept mentioning how old and almost inoperable the boat was and was asking the owner for a new one.
Accuracy of listing:Majority of items in the listing did not occur or were not offered
-there was no offer of scuba instruction
-no good morning yoga
-no sea caviar
-fishing was just some string which broke off into the ocean
-no Genaker sail
- there were SUP and snorkeling gear
Our trip experience:
We booked a 5 day 4 night one way trip from split to Dubrovnik. The most exciting part of this experience was the promise that we were going to be planning this trip together (it was boldly offered in the listing). We put a lot of thought into where we would be going and what islands we wanted to see and let the skipper know our list. We were aware that things can change due to weather conditions and other factors but outside of those our trip destinations were not honored. We wanted to start the first day in Brac and then port at Hvar but the skipper took us to Solta for the whole day which we did not want to go to and was in the opposite direction to Dubrovnik putting us in a time crunch. The next day we were able make it to a marina near Hvar and do some swimming which was nice and quiet with some good restaurants. On the 3rd day of our trip we did not make any stops and sailed all day to Korcula seeing a lot of beautiful scenery and we were excited that we arrived at 5pm so there was time to explore the island. Unfortunately we were trying to park the boat at the marina for 2.5 hours and he was unable to get the boat to turn the way it needed to in order to park so we had to leave. He then decided we will try to anchor a little bit out from the island. When he dropped the anchor it got caught on another boats anchor which almost resulted in a collision. The other boats caption proceeded to help us get free. After we had successfully dropped the anchor our skipper was not sure the anchor was secure so he got into scuba gear to go down to check. When we finally were all set it was 10 pm (5hours later) and he told us he could get us an 80euro taxi to see Korcula, but at that time it was too late for us and we lost a day where we could have been exploring. The morning of the 4th day we asked if we could go into Korcula and he said we wouldn’t have time. That morning it took 2 hours to get the anchor up and the engine started. We attempted to get gas at a station next to Korcula but were unsuccessful at porting so then he ported us at Korcula. At this time he told us to explore for 2 hours while he plotted out our path to Dubrovnik. We got back to the boat at the meeting time(12:30pm) and he did not arrive back until 1pm. He then left again. He came back 30 min later with a ferry schedule. We asked what the plan was and he said he was still trying to figure out how to get to Dubrovnik because we were still 10 hours away and he didn’t know where we could dock between Korcula and Dubrovnik and he couldn’t find his port map. He left to go find another map. At this point it was 2pm and he still had no plan of how to complete the trip. ( we booked this trip 3 months in advance so I don’t know why this wasn’t mapped out before hand especially because we had to pay an additional fee for the 1 way trip). Then a member of our group asked if it would be better for him if we just took a ferry to Dubrovnik and he said it would because he did not know how to get us there any other way. So we packed up and ended our trip a day early, waited for the ferry to get to Dubrovnik ourselves.
It was important to leave a realistic review in the hopes that this experience can be avoided by other guests. In our opinion this boat should not be on the water due to the many inoperable parts and he should not have accepted the 1 way trip without verifying he knew how to get us there.
With that said Croatia is beautiful and we hope to go back to see it fully!
Captain Daniel was AMAZING and so accommodating!!!!!!
Great experience!
