He came to Greece at the age of 7 and has lived in Athens ever since. He started sailing in small dinghies at the age of 8 and in the following years participated in various sailing races and regattas of national and international level with excellent results. He has been a member of the Greek national Sailing team for more than 5 years. John has also worked as a Professional Skipper on offshore Racing Sailboats, International Delivery skipper for Princess Yachts (2005-2011), a Sailing instructor (1998-2008), Captain on the Motor yachts "Touchdown", "Tools" and "Blue My Mind". During the winter seasons John has worked in the Merchant Marine Industry as a Marine Superintendent onboard Oil and Chemical tankers for Elmira Tankers and Blue Sea Shipping Monaco. John has graduated from Nautical high school for the proficiency of Merchant Marine deck officer and is holder of Yacht Master Offshore commercially endorsed licenses for both Sailing and Motor driven vessels. He also holds Certificates for First Aid, Passenger Safety, Security officer, Life Saving and Fire fighting, public responsibilities as per STCW. requirements and speaks fluent English and Greek. John is single and his hobby is sailing. FIRST MATE: Panagiotis Stathatos Panagiotis was born 1983 in Patras Greece. After high school he attended and gratuated from the Mechant Marine Academy of Mixaniona (Thessaloniki) and holds a Second officers unrestricted and master up to 500 GT license. He has worked onboard Merchant Marine vessels (large ferry and container) before he started working onboard pleasure yachts. He has worked onboard the luxury charter yacht "Blue Belle" and on the private 27m Technomar Velvet "Vevekos". Panagiotis speaks english, he is single and his favorite hobby is football. ENGINEER: Nikolas Sideris Nickolas was born 1985 in Piraeus Greece. He has been sailing in various types of dinghies from a young age with successful results in many national and international regattas. He started his professional carrier onboard the 80ft Swan NAZCA and continued on the unique custom built Swan POLITROPON II. For the last 2 years before joining M/Y Project Steel he has been working onboard the 45m Perini Navi FIVEA. Nick has studies in the fields of Marine engines as well as Electronics. He also has valid certificates for Life Saving and Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques, Survival Craft and speaks fluent English and Greek. Nick is single and his Hobbies except for sailing are surfing, windsurfing, fishing, scuba diving, music and travelling. CHEF: Antonios Zafiriou Antonis was born 1987 in Athens Greece. He has studied at the well-reputed "LE MONDE" Institute in Athens. After working his way up from third chef to head chef in many highly recognized restaurants in Athens he moved to Paris in order to continue his studies in Cuisine and Patisserie at the << Cordon Blue>> institute. Together with studying he also worked in the Patisserie <> in Paris. Antonis has also completed seminars for Espresso-Cappuccino and has good knowledge of Bar-tending and Cocktails. After returning from Paris he successfully stated to work as head Chef onboard the "M/Y NITTA V" for the 2013 season. He speaks fluent English and basic French. What should I bring?
Bring yourself, and some comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. How long does a rental last?
The basic daily rental is structured as either a quarter-, half-, or full-day. A quarter-day is two hours, a half-day is four hours, and a full-day is eight hours. You can also discuss a custom trip with the boat by contacting the owner through Sailo. Most term charters (weekly rentals) are from Saturday to Saturday. Keep in mind that the boat generally needs to be back at the dock by Friday evening, and you will need to be off the boat on Saturday morning so they can prepare the boat for the next guests.
