First, the people of Croatia are some of the nicest people I have met anywhere. This was our first time in Croatia. When we got on the boat we booked my wife cried. The condition of the boat was flat out unsafe. We were going to stay in Split in a hotel. In the morning I raised my issues and was shown 6 other boats to choose from. We ended up with a better boat with no extra charge. The crew at the shore was fantastic. Even with the new boat I was in the engine room a bit as the solenoid was stuck and I needed a hammer. Day one the fresh water hose broke loose and filled up the engine room. We pulled into a marina and an awesome couple of Croatians fixed the problem and after a couple drinks we were on our way.
The anchor couldn't hold in more than 10kn worth of wind and the generator was too weak to power everything when at anchor. The tender couldn't be put up and down without getting into the water. To sum things up, the people that work here are the best, the boats need some serious work unless you want to just go from marina to marina and be tied up at night

Croatia’s second city, Split is a fantastic blend of maritime history and laid back urban vibes. Often overlooked by Dubrovnik, Split actually makes the perfect base to rent a boat and explore the Dalmatian coast when sailing in Croatia. And with a palm fringed, sea facing promenade, and some of the most popular Croatian islands on its doorstep, you’ll see why this city is quickly catching up with it’s more glamorous neighbor.
