About Yiannis

I was born and raised in Tripoli, a mountain town in the heart of the Peloponnese. Despite being surrounded by hills and forests, my heart was always drawn to the sea. At the age of 22, I bought my first boat – a small speedboat, a Laser 5.99. From that moment on, my connection to the sea only grew stronger.

Later came a Regal 19, then a 22-footer, and finally a Beneteau Antares 8 – my last motorboat before I turned my passion into a profession. With those first three boats, our greatest passion was water sports – we spent countless hours water skiing, wakeboarding, and enjoying all kinds of sea fun.

In 2001, I earned my sailing license at the school in Nafplio. That was the moment I truly discovered the magic of sailing: the peace and quiet, the absence of engine noise, and the challenge of trimming the sails to get the most speed out of the boat.

When my children, Tasos and Marianna, grew up and became independent, I decided it was time to follow my dream: to turn my hobby into my livelihood. That’s how Romvi.gr was born – an effort to share my love for the sea with people looking for beauty, peace, and an authentic sailing experience in the Argolic Gulf.

Location & Destination Guide

One of the great cities of the ancient world, Athens is a fascinating mixture of old and new begging for exploration. Although, and let’s be honest here, she isn’t the best looking city in Europe, you’ll find lots to do and plenty of fascinating historical sights. The must visit wonder of the Acropolis is the crown jewels of Athens, with many ancient monuments to explore. But if you want to get out of town there are a lot of opportunities for day trips from Athens.

FAQs

What type of yacht should I charter?
No matter what type of yacht you choose to charter, we know that you will have a fantastic time on the water. If you are more about the journey, and want a relaxing time aboard, then choose from one of the many sailboats on the platform. If you are more about the destination, and going fast, check out the powerboats on Sailo. For an exclusive experience, Sailo recommends chartering a luxurious yacht for the day. Finally, Sailo has access to many event boats as well for group outings from 50 - 1,000 guests. If you are still unsure, then just ask! Read more
What should I bring?
Bring yourself, and some comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. Please coordinate with your captain regarding any food or drinks that you wish to bring aboard. For term-charters, Sailo recommends using soft-sided luggage, and keeping it simple. Read more
How long does a rental last?
The basic daily rental is structured as either a quarter-, half-, or full-day. A quarter-day is two hours, a half-day is four hours, and a full-day is eight hours. You can also discuss a custom trip with the boat by contacting the owner through Sailo. Most term charters (weekly rentals) are from Saturday to Saturday. Keep in mind that the boat generally needs to be back at the dock by Friday evening, and you will need to be off the boat on Saturday morning so they can prepare the boat for the next guests.
