Description

Departing from Brooklyn Bridge Park against the breathtaking backdrop of Lower Manhattan, yacht sails south, past Governors Island and right by the Statue of Liberty! You’ll get up close and personal with Lady Liberty, so make sure you've got your camera ready for some epic shots.

Our boat was designed and built right here in NYC. She's a true local, crafted by the legendary Sparkman & Stephens and constructed at Minneford Yacht Yard on City Island - their next collaboration won the America's Cup.

This is a thoroughbred ocean racer - built to tackle anything the ocean could throw at her, she gives a very stable ride and will never meet anything she can't handle. She's also comfortable and spacious, boasting a generous 44 feet of open deck space to lounge and enjoy a relaxing cruise.

Crew

Sam has been sailing since he was 12, starting off on the waters of Lake Michigan in Chicago. He went to college in Maine, but he's been in NYC for over a decade now, which makes him an official New Yorker (or so he claims!). Sam's been a sailing instructor, coached high school and college racing teams, and got his captain's license back in 2015. Before the pandemic hit, he had a "regular" job, but was still moonlighting as a charter captain. He enjoyed it so much he decided to come back to sailing full time, and that's when North River Sailing was born in 2022! Sam has a 50 Ton USCG Masters License with a Sailing Endorsement, so you can trust that you're in good hands when you're out on the water with him.

Location & Destination Guide

New York City looks great from the ground, but that view from the water is something else! Jump aboard a Sailo boat rental from the Big Apple and experience the thrill of the sea - and snap plenty of incredible pictures. Sailing in NYC is a must on your summer bucket list, whether you are visiting or a New Yorker.

It might not be the first thing you think of when finding things to do in New York City, but renting a boat for a full day or just a few hours is a truly memorable experience.

FAQs

What type of yacht should I charter?
No matter what type of yacht you choose to charter, we know that you will have a fantastic time on the water. If you are more about the journey, and want a relaxing time aboard, then choose from one of the many sailboats on the platform. If you are more about the destination, and going fast, check out the powerboats on Sailo. For an exclusive experience, Sailo recommends chartering a luxurious yacht for the day. Finally, Sailo has access to many event boats as well for group outings from 50 - 1,000 guests. If you are still unsure, then just ask! Read more
What should I bring?
Bring yourself, and some comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. Please coordinate with your captain regarding any food or drinks that you wish to bring aboard. For term-charters, Sailo recommends using soft-sided luggage, and keeping it simple. Read more
How long does a rental last?
The basic daily rental is structured as either a quarter-, half-, or full-day. A quarter-day is two hours, a half-day is four hours, and a full-day is eight hours. You can also discuss a custom trip with the boat by contacting the owner through Sailo. Most term charters (weekly rentals) are from Saturday to Saturday. Keep in mind that the boat generally needs to be back at the dock by Friday evening, and you will need to be off the boat on Saturday morning so they can prepare the boat for the next guests.
