Description

This is a beautiful and fast boat. Perfect for day sails on San Francisco Bay.

J/105 has the stability, rig, and sail controls to handle 15-20 knot winds without the need of reefing. It has the strength and seaworthiness for ocean-going passages.

US Coast Guard Maximum is 6 passengers. If you have more people we have other boats listed here. For more details please contact us.

Thanks for your interest in chartering our J/105. J/105’s are considered one of the ‘purest’ sailboats out there. They are the most popular keelboat racing class in every major sailing area in the USA. Fun, fast and very comfortable. Being fully restored, she always has freshly polished fiberglass and great sails! She’s perfect for sailing on SF Bay and there is no 35-40’ sailboat faster than her.

Our normal conditions start out with winds of 5-10 knots between the hours of 9 am - 12 noon. from Noon to 2 pm the winds build to 20+ knots and after 3 pm it is very common for us to be sailing in 25+ knots of wind until just after the sunset when the wind drops back to 15-18 knots.

Please dress warm and in layers. It’s usually beautiful down at South Beach Harbor but will certainly get a bit cooler out around Alcatraz.

You can bring food and beverages. Please no red wine (it stains) or hard liquor. We suggest box lunches as they’re self contained and easy to serve and clean. Please bring plastic or soft ice chests, the smaller the better.

We are located next to Oracle Ballpark, Where the SF Giants play.

Suggested Captain Gratuity is 10-15% of your event.

Captain Drew is a top notch skipper and he insured we had a terrific sail. Would book this trip again in a heartbeat.

We were two couples and went out for a sailing cruise along the Bay on a beautiful day. Skipper Darrell was amazing; super friendly and an excellent sailor with great stories! We all loved the trip. Got to help man the sheets and steer the boat, and he was happy to show us what to do. The boat is a perfect size for 4 guests and a captain. Two hours is a bit short perhaps for this price but it's San Francisco bay; definitely recommend a three hour cruise. Highly recommend this trip! Thank you!

Location & Destination Guide

Ah San Francisco! The City by the Bay is a maritime dream and one of America’s most iconic cities. Sailing in San Francisco is probably the best way to experience her in all her glory…

Many people say that this is one of the most European feeling cities in America, and with historic streets and a vibe that is still very alternative, it’s easy to see why. And, with so much to see and do on the water, sailing in San Francisco is a uniquely thrilling experience.

FAQs

What type of yacht should I charter?
No matter what type of yacht you choose to charter, we know that you will have a fantastic time on the water. If you are more about the journey, and want a relaxing time aboard, then choose from one of the many sailboats on the platform. If you are more about the destination, and going fast, check out the powerboats on Sailo. For an exclusive experience, Sailo recommends chartering a luxurious yacht for the day. Finally, Sailo has access to many event boats as well for group outings from 50 - 1,000 guests. If you are still unsure, then just ask! Read more
What should I bring?
Bring yourself, and some comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. Please coordinate with your captain regarding any food or drinks that you wish to bring aboard. For term-charters, Sailo recommends using soft-sided luggage, and keeping it simple. Read more
How long does a rental last?
The basic daily rental is structured as either a quarter-, half-, or full-day. A quarter-day is two hours, a half-day is four hours, and a full-day is eight hours. You can also discuss a custom trip with the boat by contacting the owner through Sailo. Most term charters (weekly rentals) are from Saturday to Saturday. Keep in mind that the boat generally needs to be back at the dock by Friday evening, and you will need to be off the boat on Saturday morning so they can prepare the boat for the next guests.
