Description

In addition to being a great Caribbean sailing holiday, This boat can offer a window into the amazing life of cruising and long range passage-making for people who are interested. The boats easygoing owner/yachtmaster can provide a fun and stress-free learning environment on this beautiful sailboat that offers two very nice ensuite double-accommodation guest cabins. It also has a large and comfortable cockpit with easy access to the water through its open transom. The boat carries charter amenities, including snorkeling equipment and paddle boards, and the owner knows the BVI's secret spots. Lot's of low key, down island limin' will very happily be accommodated, but you want, you can also choose to learn a few new sailing skills or, perhaps, even explore some of the skills necessary to make a life of sailing the world's oceans a dream of your own. Either way, when you leave you will have enjoyed an unforgettably fun time sailing in the Caribbean, and perhaps will have also picked up a few new sailing skills as well.
This is a 50' Bavaria built in Germany. It's perfect for two couples or a family of four because the owner's cabin is not nearby.

Crew

Peter is AQUALIBRA's owner and is onboard to assume the responsibility for the safe operation of the vessel. He provides expert coaching if desired, but there are no other crew. He first skippered private yacht charters in the Caribbean at the dawn of the industry in the early 1980's. He has commanded sailing vessels on countless passages in the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic and Pacific oceans since he was 21, and originally learned to sail in the English Channel at age 9. He has long been an avid ocean racer and has extensively raced boats offshore single-handed and with crews of up to 30 sailors. He has also raced ultra-competitive F18 high performance catamarans. He's owned Aqualibra since 2012, which was acquired to be the safe and comfortable floating home for his mostly non-sailing wife and their twins. Peter has an unusually diverse sailing resumé and a broad-based wealth of knowledge. He really enjoys coaching enthusiastic people, and many people who have learned sailing skills with him have gone on to enjoy the confidence that his guidance was able to instill in them.

FAQs

What type of yacht should I charter?
No matter what type of yacht you choose to charter, we know that you will have a fantastic time on the water. If you are more about the journey, and want a relaxing time aboard, then choose from one of the many sailboats on the platform. If you are more about the destination, and going fast, check out the powerboats on Sailo. For an exclusive experience, Sailo recommends chartering a luxurious yacht for the day. Finally, Sailo has access to many event boats as well for group outings from 50 - 1,000 guests. If you are still unsure, then just ask! Read more
What should I bring?
Bring yourself, and some comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. Please coordinate with your captain regarding any food or drinks that you wish to bring aboard. For term-charters, Sailo recommends using soft-sided luggage, and keeping it simple. Read more
How long does a rental last?
The basic daily rental is structured as either a quarter-, half-, or full-day. A quarter-day is two hours, a half-day is four hours, and a full-day is eight hours. You can also discuss a custom trip with the boat by contacting the owner through Sailo. Most term charters (weekly rentals) are from Saturday to Saturday. Keep in mind that the boat generally needs to be back at the dock by Friday evening, and you will need to be off the boat on Saturday morning so they can prepare the boat for the next guests.
