Description

Feel the boat come alive as the wind fills the sails, allowing you to connect with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Heading up Manhasset Bay (20 miles from Manhattan) into Long Island Sound, you'll enjoy the beautiful Sands Point and Great Neck mansions that dot the shoreline. As you enter the Sound, you'll be greeted by breathtaking views of the NYC skyline, Throgs Neck Bridge, City Island, Hart Island, and the Steppingstone and Execution Rocks lighthouses.

The 47-foot Beneteau Oceanis 473 offers an exceptional sailing experience with a spacious cockpit, including a bimini top for shade and a folding table for al fresco dining. And there's plenty of room to stretch out on the foredeck. Below deck, you'll find a spacious, light, and comfortable saloon with a fully equipped galley, a dining area that seats six, and three double cabins, each with its own en suite bathroom.

The cabin is perfect for day cruising or extended multi-day charters. Finally, the swim deck with shower and ladder makes swimming a must during the summer months. You can also take the helm, trim the sails, and steer the boat if you wish.

I grew up looking out on Long Island Sound through a big-picture window of my parent's home. I was fascinated by the extraordinary number and variety of sailboats moving over the water. I started sailing on my father's 29-foot sailboat at age four and began junior sailing classes at Knickerbocker Yacht Club in Port Washington at age eight. After college and many years working abroad in advertising, I returned to sailing, racing a 23-foot Sonar for thirty years in Manhasset Bay. In 2011, I bought a 47-foot Beneteau Oceanis 473 and, since then, have sailed it in the Caribbean, up and down the east coast of the United States, and on Long Island Sound.
I am a fully certified U.S. Coast Guard Captain.

Location and Destination Guide

Usually this boat operates around Port Washington, NY.

New York City looks great from the ground, but that view from the water is something else! Jump aboard a Sailo boat rental from the Big Apple and experience the thrill of the sea - and snap plenty of incredible pictures. Sailing in NYC is a must on your summer bucket list, whether you are visiting or a New Yorker.

It might not be the first thing you think of when finding things to do in New York City, but renting a boat for a full day or just a few hours is a truly memorable experience.
