The time you book on the boat is entirely yours to enjoy, and Captain Andy is happy to accommodate your preferences to make the experience uniquely yours. If you’d like a suggested itinerary, we’re happy to provide options based on popular routes and what the wind and tides allow.
Suggested Itineraries:
2 Hours: Sail through NY Harbor to see Hudson Yards, the Statue of Liberty (or Brooklyn Bridge), Ellis Island, Governors Island, and the Financial District, with views extending to Staten Island and the Verrazano Bridge.
3 Hours: In addition to NY Harbor highlights, explore the East River, including the Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street, and South Street Seaport.
4-8 Hours: Enjoy an extended sailing experience, exploring the Palisades’ cliffs, the Verrazano Narrows, or even spotting dolphins and humpback whales.

This is a no-shoes boat, so please bring cozy wool socks for your comfort.

Captain Andy fell in love with the water and gained a deep respect for nature while fishing with his beloved grandpa, David, in Louisiana. He has navigated the entire Western Hemisphere, becoming a seasoned professional sailor. He’s accumulated over 150,000 miles professionally, moving various boats up to 95 feet in size from Europe’s North Sea down to the Bay of Biscay and from North America to South America. In 2023 Captain Andy bought his dream boat; a hand-crafted Hinckley Bermuda 40, which he affectionately named after his mother. He refurbished it and has now brought this rare gem to sail the greatest city in the world, New York. His achievements include : A Certified US Coast Guard Master – highest official captain certification to sail a 100-ton vessel for paying customers. Three transatlantic unassisted sails Water Survival Instructor – including helicopter rescue training Certified Dive Instructor – over 1,000 dives logged

What type of yacht should I charter?
No matter what type of yacht you choose to charter, we know that you will have a fantastic time on the water. If you are more about the journey, and want a relaxing time aboard, then choose from one of the many sailboats on the platform. If you are more about the destination, and going fast, check out the powerboats on Sailo. For an exclusive experience, Sailo recommends chartering a luxurious yacht for the day. What should I bring?
Bring yourself, and some comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. Please coordinate with your captain regarding any food or drinks that you wish to bring aboard. For term-charters, Sailo recommends using soft-sided luggage, and keeping it simple. Read more
How long does a rental last?
The basic daily rental is structured as either a quarter-, half-, or full-day. A quarter-day is two hours, a half-day is four hours, and a full-day is eight hours. You can also discuss a custom trip with the boat by contacting the owner through Sailo. Most term charters (weekly rentals) are from Saturday to Saturday. Keep in mind that the boat generally needs to be back at the dock by Friday evening, and you will need to be off the boat on Saturday morning so they can prepare the boat for the next guests.
