NYC Daysailing
(available between 8am & 4pm)
Explore NYC’s urban archipelago on a daysail. We’ll drop by for a close-up with the Statue of Liberty and sail past NYC’s best sights -- Ellis Island, Governors Island, World Trade Center, and Financial District. Keep an eye out for natural wonders, too. Seals are back, fish are jumping, and the ever-expanding sky opens up a whole new perspective.

Sunset Cruise & City Lights Sail
(available after 5pm)
For a romantic evening, our sunset cruise and relaxing night sail are filled with breathtaking moments. Experience the sparkling lights of NYC’s world-famous skyline. You’re sure to fall in love with the city all over again.

Chelsea Piers, Pier 59
West 17th Street & West Side Highway.
Step off the Manhattan sidewalk and escape into a nautical wonderland.
Google Maps:

Spacious deck lounge, interior lounge, bluetooth sound system for your playlist, lavatory, bottled water and seltzer are all included. Don't worry about shoes, we're a barefoot boat.

Food & Beverage:
Beer, wine and spirits are welcome onboard. Because sailing is active, finger foods and picnic lunches work best on a moving boat.

S/V Saga:
Named after the Nordic goddess of history and storytelling, Saga was known for drinking ale and sharing stories. Let’s continue in her tradition.

Your Captain:
Captain Martin holds a USCG 100 Ton Master Captain’s License. Sailor of the New York Harbor for 25 years, he is an expert guide to NYC’s waterways.

Learn to Sail:
Aspiring sailors are invited to trim the sails and take the wheel (weather and safety permitting). Earn your stripes in the busiest harbor of North America, or lounge on deck and enjoy.

US Coast Guard License:
Yes, we’re a USCG licensed vessel for up to 6 passengers. USCG counts infants and children as passengers.

Sailing Waiver:
Before casting off from shore, all passengers must complete the sailing waiver. Please sign and return in advance:

With sailing you’ll feel the sun on your face, wind in your hair, and sometimes a rain shower. We monitor the weather closely. If conditions are unsafe, the Captain will reschedule your sail.

Don't Miss the Boat!
Due to a tight sailing schedule, the boat won’t wait if you arrive late. Plan for snarled traffic, subway delays, and missing Citi Bikes. Please arrive 15 minutes early and relax onboard.

    Martin and Hans are amazing!

Booked the boat for 6 people for a friends birthday and we couldn’t of asked for more. Wish we booked for more than 2 hours.

    Very accommodating and lovely people.

    Would recommend!

This trip was amazing! Our party went for a 1/4 day sail for a birthday celebration around sunset and the whole experience was incredible. Martin was very accommodating and even assisted us with or planned picnic.

Martin and his first mate were very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The boat is beautiful, clean and they are great at creating an experience for guests. They allow you to bring wine on board, and help keep it cold and serve to you. They offer some interesting anecdotes about NYC history, but know when to sit back and let the group have fun themselves. The offer to take photos. Everything was perfect! Will definitely book again

Great sailboat to spend a birthday with close friends. It was especially nice to be out in the water around sunset time, the weather was perfect and the views looked epic. Captain Martin and Rachel were awesome, we didn't even have to lift a finger, they were so attentive. Definitely would do it again.

What type of yacht should I charter?

No matter what type of yacht you choose to charter, we know that you will have a fantastic time on the water. If you are more about the journey, and want a relaxing time aboard, then choose from one of the many sailboats on the platform. If you are more about the destination, and going fast, check out the powerboats on Sailo. For an exclusive experience, Sailo recommends chartering a luxurious yacht for the day. Finally, Sailo has access to many event boats as well for group outings from 50 - 1,000 guests. If you are still unsure, then just ask! more...

What should I bring?

Bring yourself, and some comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. Please coordinate with your captain regarding any food or drinks that you wish to bring aboard. For term-charters, Sailo recommends using soft-sided luggage, and keeping it simple. more...

How long does a rental last?

The basic daily rental is structured as either a quarter-, half-, or full-day. A quarter-day is two hours, a half-day is four hours, and a full-day is eight hours. You can also discuss a custom trip with the boat by contacting the owner through Sailo. Most term charters (weekly rentals) are from Saturday to Saturday. Keep in mind that the boat generally needs to be back at the dock by Friday evening, and you will need to be off the boat on Saturday morning so they can prepare the boat for the next guests. more...
