About Gregory

Serving as a Galveston fishing guide is not just a job, but a passion for Captain Greg Verm. Licensed by the US Coast Guard (Ref #3169824) and Texas Parks and Wildlife, Captain Greg shares his lifelong experience and passion for fishing Galveston Bay with his clients.

At age 2, Greg could often been seen aboard a boat with his Mom and Dad for a beautiful day of chasing redfish, trout and flounder on Galveston Bay. By the time he was 16, Captain Greg had purchased his own boat and began venturing out on his own. He spent much of his free time on the water and grew accustomed to hooking the Big fish!!

After many years and a few more boats – Captain Greg is still fishing the waters where he grew up. With miles of water to explore, there is no shortage of opportunities to find new areas to snag that trophy catch. Now, more than ever, he enjoys sharing his love of the water and the sport fishing with those he serves as a Galveston fishing guide. To Capt. Greg, there is nothing greater than seeing the smiles on people's face when they are bowed up on Big Fish.

In addition to his love of fishing, Greg has a love for his family and children. He and his lovely wife Stacie have been married for 15 years. Together, they have 2 children, Gregory and Kylie. Now, Captain Greg is grooming son, Gregory Verm, Jr. to continue his fishing legacy. Gregory shares his dad’s passion for the water and fishing and currently serves as a deckhand on his dad’s fishing charters. Capt. Greg especially loves getting the younger generations hooked on fishing early. His rapport and personality make him an exceptional mentor for these young anglers. In addition to his career as a Galveston fishing guide, Greg has coached Little League Baseball for over 8 years. His outgoing nature and ability to relate to youngsters are sure to make their experience on the water great!

FAQs

What type of yacht should I charter?
No matter what type of yacht you choose to charter, we know that you will have a fantastic time on the water. If you are more about the journey, and want a relaxing time aboard, then choose from one of the many sailboats on the platform. If you are more about the destination, and going fast, check out the powerboats on Sailo. For an exclusive experience, Sailo recommends chartering a luxurious yacht for the day. Finally, Sailo has access to many event boats as well for group outings from 50 - 1,000 guests. If you are still unsure, then just ask! Read more
What should I bring?
Bring yourself, and some comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. Please coordinate with your captain regarding any food or drinks that you wish to bring aboard. For term-charters, Sailo recommends using soft-sided luggage, and keeping it simple. Read more
How long does a rental last?
The basic daily rental is structured as either a quarter-, half-, or full-day. A quarter-day is two hours, a half-day is four hours, and a full-day is eight hours. You can also discuss a custom trip with the boat by contacting the owner through Sailo. Most term charters (weekly rentals) are from Saturday to Saturday. Keep in mind that the boat generally needs to be back at the dock by Friday evening, and you will need to be off the boat on Saturday morning so they can prepare the boat for the next guests.
