Captain, Crew & Fuel: Bareboat Charter is required to comply with US Coast Guard Regulations. We can refer you to a list of Qualified captains and crew upon booking if requested for a fairly seamless hiring process (estimated $600 to $750 depending on their rates and availability) or you can of course bring your own crew members. Fuel is replenished by the renter based on what is used, your hired captain will usually agree to refuel for you (estimated $400 to $500 if visiting local islands)

Navigating to Culebra, Vieques, Virgin Islands, etc. generally add additional costs to you for fuel of around $1800 to $2200.
The boat is for 8 hour day and additional hours can be negotiated as needed. The vessel is ready from 8am to generally around 7pm depending on sea conditions and your captains discretion.

The poor rating comes down to the fact that much better communication is needed from the team managing this boat charter service.
We booked 80 days in advance given high season. I proactively called 6 days before to reconfirm departure details, only to be texted that this boat was now unavailable due to mechanical issues. Ok, understood - things happen, although I wondered when they would have told us.
Problem was the unempathetic messaging. The choices were: a) pay more money for a larger boat the day before, b) keep that day but get passed onto another company/charter, c) change our date to later that week, or d) be cancelled. We found “happy to cancel” language dismissive to our predicament. We took option b, but then with new company, the new boat costs were re-opened again (food, location, toys, length) until moment we left dock. For example, a free ski bob was offered by this team for the inconvenience, but it was not on board - and it was embarrassing to have to have that convo in front of my family.
I’m sharing all this in the hopes it can be learned from and if and when it does happen again…staff can be nicer and more present with guests in dealing with this unfortunate situation.

- Cancellations made less than 3 days before departure are non-refundable unless due to severe weather (as determined by the captain).
