Although the staff was very nice at euronautic the Elan 45 was what could be best described as, ‘a poor state of being’. I’ve sailed on 15 year old boats that were in much better condition and better maintained than this one which was only two years old (2018) at the time of sailing.
The most serious issue we had was engin problems, cutting out for no apparent reason while motoring. And having to limp into Crowded bays and moorings with an engine that refused to run.
Luckily we had fair winds and good weather and could make it safely back to base without damage. But I’m almost certain that they just sent out the boat again after us without checking the engine properly.
other little things also didn’t work.
- Freshwater tank indicator (always showing 100% even when empty).
- Not being able to refill the fresh water tanks (some sort of blockage) without running a hose through the cabin to refill.
- Blackwater tanks not working (not connected correctly)... kids swimming around the boat (need I say more)
- mainsail halliard was twisted around the topping lift
- Furniture being over used and latches not closing properly
The zip on the spray hood broken.
And and and.
All in all sailing in Croatia is a wonderful Experience. We have done it for many years now.
It’s just the we could have done without all the troubles that we had on the boat. The owner really needs to invest more in servicing, maintaining and repairing.
