Captain Eligibility

In order to be able to charter a boat on Sailo, the Captain must meet all of the following eligibility requirements:

• He/she must have and provide a USCG Captain’s license in good standing;
• He/she must have no felony or criminal convictions within the last 10 years. Such convictions include, but are not limited to DWI, DUI, implied consent, any drug related violation, or open container violation, manslaughter, negligent homicide, felony involving a motor vehicle and/or vessel (including but not limited to hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, driving/operating while license is suspended/revoked, license suspension for points, license revoked, resisting arrest, or failing to report an accident);
• He/she must have had no boat related losses, accidents or claims within the last 10 years;
• He/she must not have had any insurance cancelled, refused or non-renewed;
• He/she must possess a mobile phone and a valid e-mail address verifiable through a text message confirmation so that he/she can be reached through calls and messaging;
• He/she is solely responsible to know and abide by the laws and regulations for owning or operating a boat in the jurisdiction he/she is hired to operate a boat in.

Captain Eligibility Documentation

The Captain is required to notify Sailo of any changes to his/her eligibility. Failure to notify and go through proper verification process will result in his/her account being deactivated. In addition, the Captain needs to be able to demonstrate that he/she has had at least 20 operating hours experience operating boats of similar length (within the 10 feet of the requested boat for rental).

Captain Eligibility Continued Monitoring

Sailo Captains are expected to keep their exemplary standing within the Sailo Community. Sailo may periodically monitor any Captain’s eligibility requirements to ensure that such Captain continues to qualify for membership under the Captain Eligibility Requirements. Moreover, in addition to the Sailo Community reviews, Captain reviews can be triggered by a number of external notifications including, but not limited to the external notifications by any Sailo user, internal notifications received through the Sailo system and/or external notifications by the State DMV, U.S. Coast Guard or any national and international authority.
