For those who decide not to be wireless travelers during their trip, there is a possibility to have WiFi onboard. You can bring along with you a pocket WiFi device where you become the hotspot, or buy a prepaid SIM card. However, the best option before purchasing anything is to contact email@example.com to find out if it’s worth it depending on your location. Also, if you need to be connected while at sea, you can rent a satellite Phone.Back
Check the tinerary before you pre-order provisions and think about how you want to customize and adjust, then make appropriate changes based on your group. You should focus on:
~ Lunch and snacks, because breakfast is usually a low key affair and people go out for dinner;
~ Water, making sure each person onboard drinks at least 1.5L of water a day.
~ Relax and enjoy, because you can always restock your provisions when you’re on the land!
If you need more information regarding food provisions, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, we’ll give you all the details you need!
Every boat will have an experienced captain on board who will ensure your safety and will teach you the things you need to do to help in making the boat sail. Most people do not know how to sail when they come but everybody helps out, so as long as you're up for learning, you'll have a blast!
Bring comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. Check out our Discover Boating guide for more information.Back
If you already own a yacht (not renting from somebody else) that is located at the departure location of the trip, and want to come along, you can contact us at email@example.com and we will work something out to have you join the group.Back
The most common question we get is how do people plan and pay for liquor and food or some other group expenses like resort docking fees. As you can imagine, each group will be very different in the amount of food eaten on shore or on the boat, or the amount of liquor bought for the boat. Therefore a few weeks prior to the trip, you will be introduced to your boatmates and together you will create an easy plan for how much your group wants to spend on food, liquor, docking fees and others. This will be called the boat purse and all group expenses will be taken out of this.Back
At Sailo, safety is always a priority. Therefore, we ask that good judgment be used at all times (if it’s illegal on the land, it will most likely be illegal on the water as well!) while checking with your boat captain for any specific restrictions given the fact that they have the final say as to what is and is not allowed on the boat.Back
It is obvious that your captain will not take you out if conditions are dangerous. That being said, please keep in mind that a few clouds, or a slight chance of rain will likely not be grounds for cancellation or rescheduling. You will have to communicate with you captain to find out the consequence of bad weather on your trip.Back
You must always keep in mind while packing that boats have very limited space on board. Therefore, you should avoid bringing unnecessary items that aren’t essential during the trip (i.e. jewellery, valuables) and be smart in the choice of your items (i.e. duffle bag instead of hard luggage). Your packing should be light and simple. If you are worried you will pack too much check out our article What to Bring on Boat Charter.
People join up into boat groups in a few different ways. Most groups fill their own full boat group and we'll be honest: that's really the best way. But if you are a traveller coming on your own, we set aside a boat for our "Adventurers," who will have a captain to guide them through the week with their new pals.
