Description

MEA is a mini-tug, and was designed for going far while enjoying the scenery. She is very pretty and is a great boat for cruising, fishing, swimming, and exploring nearby restaurants on the water. With bow and stern thrusters, she is a pleasure to dock, and her digital TV, bluetooth stereo, and refrigerator will keep the crew happy!

During the summer, watch the Coney Island Fireworks from the water on Friday nights...

Large cockpit is perfect for that special photo or video shoot, with our patient crew working to line it up just right :)

If you decide to scatter the ashes of a loved one at sea, we will make sure you know the relevant regulations and take you outside the 3 mile limit required by the EPA.

Talk to us about your special event- anniversary, or maybe even a proposal!

Crew

Eduard graduated from Odessa Institute of Marine Engineers in Ukraine, and was trained as a mechanical engineer, with specialty in diesel engines. He served in that capacity on oceangoing vessels (tankers and cargo ships) for a number of years. During his service as a merchant mariner, Eduard sailed across oceans, crossed the equator several times, and went ‘around the Horn’ on his way to India. Since retiring, he enjoyed taking care of the diesels on his own boats- both sail and power, and being on the water with his son, Alex. Alex Moroz is an experienced sailor with over 25 years of experience on the water in NY/NJ and the Caribbean. Alex cruised, raced, and delivered sail and powerboats, served as a deckhand, crossed a sea, and came up through the ranks from ordinary seaman to petty officer on a 110′ Brigantine. He holds a merchant mariner credential of Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (more commonly known as “Captain’s License”) from the United States Coast Guard. Alex enjoys sharing his love of being on the water and driving boats with MEA’s guests.

Alex and Eduard were courteous and capable hosts, tailoring a Manhattan tour to fit the likings of our party of five. I certainly won’t forget the priceless views of the City and sights, like the Statue of Liberty. Coordination with Alex was extremely easy by both email and phone.

As for the boat, MEA is a beautiful little red tug, with both intimate cabin and deck space with a little table. Despite her size, she kicks it up to 10 knots to race the Wall Street ferries. MEA makes for a unique experience unlike any other conventional powered boat on this site.

The crew were absolutely amazing. I hired this great mini-tug for a photo project and the crew was extremely flexible with me on dates, were willing to depart for a shoot at 3AM, and were very skilled & responsive with regards to maneuvering the boat for my shots.

Also, they provided complimentary snacks for my crew! So so lovely.

The boat is so lovely, with ample room for lounging and working both inside and out. I could see that this boat would be incredible for a leisure trip, but its great that the crew could also cater to our professional needs.

Full stars for the MEA crew & will certainly use them again.

    Thanks guys!

Location and Destination Guide

Usually this boat operates around Sheepshead Bay, NY.

New York City looks great from the ground, but that view from the water is something else! Jump aboard a Sailo boat rental from the Big Apple and experience the thrill of the sea - and snap plenty of incredible pictures.

It might not be the first thing you think of when finding things to do in New York City, but renting a boat for a full day or just a few hours is a truly memorable experience.

FAQs

What type of yacht should I charter?

No matter what type of yacht you choose to charter, we know that you will have a fantastic time on the water. If you are more about the journey, and want a relaxing time aboard, then choose from one of the many sailboats on the platform. If you are more about the destination, and going fast, check out the powerboats on Sailo. For an exclusive experience, Sailo recommends chartering a luxurious yacht for the day. Finally, Sailo has access to many event boats as well for group outings from 50 - 1,000 guests. If you are still unsure, then just ask! more...

What should I bring?

Bring yourself, and some comfortable clothes suitable to the season you are going to be out on the water. Please keep in mind that it is often 10 degrees cooler out on the water, so a jacket or windbreaker is never a bad idea. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses, as well as a swimsuit if appropriate for your charter location. Please coordinate with your captain regarding any food or drinks that you wish to bring aboard. For term-charters, Sailo recommends using soft-sided luggage, and keeping it simple. more...

How long does a rental last?

The basic daily rental is structured as either a quarter-, half-, or full-day. A quarter-day is two hours, a half-day is four hours, and a full-day is eight hours. You can also discuss a custom trip with the boat by contacting the owner through Sailo. Most term charters (weekly rentals) are from Saturday to Saturday. Keep in mind that the boat generally needs to be back at the dock by Friday evening, and you will need to be off the boat on Saturday morning so they can prepare the boat for the next guests. more...
