Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: I never force my customers to sail in the rain but if you still do want to sail, I have a cabin and a bimini to take cover under so you’ll remain dry. If you decide not to sail, we can try to reschedule and if we can’t find a date that works, I will give a full refund. I also don’t force people to sail when the temperature is below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. I will call the sail off if there is a strong threat of lightning or winds are in excess of 30 miles per hour. We need to wait until 2 hours prior to the sail to make the final determination on weather so I can interpret accurate radar data.
Q: What is the typical route?
A: Each sail is customizable but a typical 4 hour sail includes sailing down the Hudson River from Chelsea Piers (passing Lower Manhattan) to get as close to the Statue of Liberty as possible. From there, we sail around Governors Island and underneath the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges on the East River before returning.
Q: Is there a bathroom aboard?
Q: What does the charter come with?
A: Bottled waters, sodas, ice, cups, plates, cutlery, napkins, etc. You are more than welcomed to bring food aboard.
Q: Can I bring alcohol?
A: Yes, but I don’t provide alcohol. I have the appropriate bottle openers and nice plastic wine glasses and plastic champagne flutes on board.
Q: Will I get seasick?
A: My sailboat has a full keel which makes her more stable than most boats. However, all boats rock. I suggest that you take a motion sickness pill before boarding the boat if you are afraid of getting seasick as the pill takes time to work.
Q: Do you allow children aboard?
A: Of course! I’ve been sailing since in my mother’s womb so it would be hypocritical of me to not allow children aboard the Genesis! Children under 12 years of age are required to wear a life jacket, which I provide.
Q: Do you have a refrigerator?
A: Yes, but it’s not a full sized refrigerator like you would find in a home. It’s large enough to hold drinks for a charter.
Q: Do you have a stereo?
A: Yes and I have bluetooth speakers as well. I have an auxiliary cord that you can use to plug into the stereo to play music from your phone. You can also bring your charging cord to plug into the stereo’s USB port to keep your phone charged.
Q: Do you have Wi-Fi?
A: No but phones do get reception out on the water.
Eric is very knowledgeable about the area and very helpful. He took a last min booking same day!
Eric made this experience SO easy and SO unforgettable. He was super friendly and helpful, genuinely happy to answer questions ahead of time and during, and extremely patient with all of us (even after a few glasses of champagne). Hands down one of the best experiences i’ve had, birthday or otherwise, and i’m already planning the next outing my friends and i will be taking with Eric. The boat was well-stocked and had everything we needed. In terms of pricing, Eric is very reasonable and provides way more bang for your buck. He’s also incredibly responsive and tries to work with your scheduling constraints.
We enjoyed the trip immensely. The yacht was beautiful and Eric was relaxed and accommodating. The trip itself was amazing from Hudson Yards to the Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty. It was a beautiful night and a great trip.

Eric Puleio was the best host and captain! He had everything we needed, he was very friendly and accommodating! My friends and I really enjoyed our boating experience, so much fun! He also told us about his love for sailing and I think it’s amazing seeing people do what they love for living! Amazing experience 5/5.
Whether you're a tourist or a born and bred NYer, this trip is a treat. Captain Eric is professional, knowledgable and welcoming. The boat is a beauty, and extremely comfortable. Bring a picnic, and see NY like you've never seen it. Even if you're not lucky enough to get a sunset, seeing the city light up at night from the water is spectacular.
Eric was very responsive to all my needs and concerns before, and during, the sail, including keeping us updated on potential weather issues, and making sure we knew where to go and what to expect. We plan to make this an annual adventure.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed a sunset cruise on Eric's boat. He was a great Captain and was incredibly welcoming and had all things we needed for a great sail. I would definitely book Eric again!
This was such a magical day! Eric was lovely, informative and so wonderful to sail with. He explained all the sights and was funny and easygoing. We had a great time and can't wait to do it again.
Captain Eric is phenomenal! The sunset cruise that he charted for myself and my girlfriend was breathtaking and truly memorable with beautiful views of the NYC skyline, Statue of Liberty, and Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.
Really very highly recommend it and will be back soon!
We had a fantasy trip with Eric. The consummate professional; made us feel welcome and safe. We knew it was a little risky with the weather but Eric navigated perfectly while providing the thrill of outracing the storm. Will definitely book him again.
Eric gave us an amazing sail. I think I gonna book his boat again in the future.
My clothing company booked The Genesis as our photo shoot location for a 3 hr sunset charter- Captain Eric was fantastic and made the experience so easy. He was helpful, hospitable, and The Genesis was so perfect for our shoot aesthetic. Will definitely be booking another charter with him for fun with friends sometime soon! Would highly recommend booking with Narwhal Yacht Charters!
I booked a sunset sail with Captain Eric for a group of girlfriends, and we had the best time! Eric's boat is an immaculate, beautiful classic sailboat, and sailing along the Hudson at sunset was absolutely magical! Captain Eric was super attentive to everyone's needs, and made sure that the group was comfortable and made recommendations on how where to sit on the boat to make the most of it.
The girls loved it, and we will definitely book with Captain Eric again soon!
My siblings and I surprised our mom with a sunset cruise of Manhattan's skyline as an early Mother's Day celebration. As jaded New Yorkers who love to be on the water, our ride on Captain Eric's gorgeous sailboat managed to exceed our expectations. He could not have been any warmer or passionate about sailing. He had fun facts to share about New York City and the environment. We lucked out with perfect weather and a view of a blood orange full moon. Capt. Eric also provides snacks/drinks and makes you feel at home on his actual floating home. I can't wait to go out on a longer day cruise with friends :) Definitely recommend!

I am a certified USCG Master Captain who's been sailing since in my mother's womb. I grew up sailing and have owned two sailboats since 2006. I own and run the top rated sailing charter company on New York Harbor.
Usually this boat operates around New York, NY.
New York City looks great from the ground, but that view from the water is something else! Jump aboard a Sailo boat rental from the Big Apple and experience the thrill of the sea - and snap plenty of incredible pictures. Sailing in NYC is a must on your summer bucket list, whether you are visiting or a New Yorker.
It might not be the first thing you think of when finding things to do in New York City, but renting a boat for a full day or just a few hours is a truly memorable experience.
